Over golden week (Japanese spring break) I went to Okinawa. Hannah has a friend in Tokyo from her university in Australia who organized a trip with 8 of her friends from tokyo and Invited us to come along. So on monday May 3 Hannah and I took a train to Osaka then another to Kobe where we got on a plane to Naha, Okinawa. We got to our hostel where we met them and the fun began! That night we went to a festival where there were lots of people and FIREWORKS! The only thing wrong with Okinawa is that there is a US army base there and so I had to see a whole bunch of stupid meat head US army fucks while I was there. besides that! It was amazing. that night we went real big with lots of booze and playing by this beach by the highway.... we called it highway river. Definitely not the cleanest of water but I had no choice to go in as I was thrown in.
then on Wednesday we just barely caught our ferry to a small Island called Takashiki. There we got settled into our 10 person cabin (very small but so cute!) and then headed to the beach. The rest of the day is a drunken blur but I know for a fact I had fun! Takashiki really reminded me of a Japanese version of Tahiti. It was so amazing. Everyday we went to the beach and swam, tanned, had hangovers, ate ice cream, and were so happy to be not to be in school. Definitely one of my favorite trips I have ever been on.
Another great thing about Okinawa... there were cats EVERYWHERE! Takashiki had some scary beat up ones but I was in heaven. I need more meows in my life!

This cute guy is poisonous and him and his brothers are all over the island! Good thing I only saw him in this cage. Some locals had just caught him. SCARY!

On may 2 Hannah and I biked to Vegan Earth day festival. It was amazing! It felt like I was in berkeley. Just surrounded by Japanese people. The food was amazing. Nice people. Bad music that you expect to be playing at a festival like that and great the weather was PERFECT!! BEfore we went we loaded up on beer and got there and just ate great food and got super drunk. After the festival we biked to the river and took a nap (passed out) for about an hour. It was an Amazing day!!!!
