Herrooo

Last week I went to a Unagi restaurant. It was yum and it was such a cute restaurant. Tip: go before 2 o'clock for the lunch set. I was 15 min late and had to pay double the price of a lunch set. oops.

On friday April 23 my dorm Kino Ryo had a party for all the international students living in the dorms and whoever else wanted to come I guess. Super fun. good food. towards the end when everyone was wasted we played a huge game of "Ro Sham bo". one person stands on the table and everyone around goes against that person. guess who the winner was?? yours truly. I won a pillow. IT was random. but TIGHT!

you know the party is crackin when you see this many shoes outside.

Yuck.

Me kicking ass

On saturday Hannah, Laura and I went to Osaka. great fun!! This was the view from the Train.

I ate all of it. including the octopus...it was not as rubbery as I thought it would be.

This was a cat cafe. You go, pay about $8.50 for an hour and play with cats, $9.50 for an hour with cats and a drink and $10.50 for kitty time, drink and a piece of cake. I may find myself in here soon.

All you can eat Sushi. Wasn't nearly as good as Kapa.

The night begins...

At 4:30 am we left the club. We headed to Mcdonalds where I spent some time in the bathroom puking. Excellent. The whole night I wanted french fries but frenchfries are not a huge breakfast item. These men were sleeping behind us. Everyone in that mcdonalds was either still drunk or asleep or just weird. Around 5 we got on the subway to go back to our hostel. We had gone the day before around 1 and the room was not ready yet. We got to the hostel around 5:30 and it was closed. so we slept in the lobby next door till 6. When we went to talk about getting our room they would not let us have it. Who knows why. So we just basically got to keep all our stuff in a locker for a night for free. We were so tired and cold and hung over that we just said screw it and got on the train back to kyoto. got home around 8:30 when I FINALLY got to sleep. After Hannah and I had a picnic in a park close to our dorm. Finally had a sunny day and I slept through it. great.

Almost every day at school students set up a tarp and sell clothes and sometimes jewelry, hand made goods, and random shit. They call them flea markets. One day I was shopping and one girl had this shit! I almost peed my pants! I tried to explain to her that I went to that camp but didn't know how to. I didn't have any money so I could not buy it. Day camp sucked compared to the real deal anyway!

school times

Today was the first day in class where we didn't sketch. I was so happy. We made Nori which is the paste you use for Katazome. (read up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katazome) It was so fun. Because they do this a lot to me I normally was asked to be the guinea pig and do all the examples with Imamura Sensei. The paste smells REALLY good but tastes REALLY bad. Today was a great day.

Sachi and Imamura sensei getting down with making Nori:

Sensei and I kneading the nori:

After you Knead you make into doughnut shapes. I don't know why.

Then you bundle them up in this cute way and steam them for two hours.

After you mix some other stuff into it (calcium and salt and water) and mix until its really soft.... I don't really know how to describe it... This is Hana. She can speak a little bit of English. She's really cool and funny and goes up to my shoulder.

These are just some photos of my class mates. I love this school.
I dont know how their knees still work after sitting like this. But when the teacher gives demonstrations this is how the choose to take notes. its amazing:

Hana, Naho, and I looking good. (yea, thats three chins you're counting...)

HUGE cat fight after school.

After Hannah went to buy Tsunagis which are like aprons but in a jumpsuit form. We thought it was really important because everyone wears them and we needed to fit it. Plus they are just really cool.

After we got Okonomiyaki. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okonomiyaki) Quite the experience. While eating they had the TV on and we watched Japans guinness book of world records. which is completely pointless. Examples: one person did 5 arubix cubes in less than 2 min, one person jump roped 162 times in 30 seconds, one person went up these weird set of stairs on his head, one man cut watermelons on a fat girls stomach without cutting her, and one guy ate about 22 meatball things in less than 30 seconds or something stupid like that. it was great.

Man cooking:

My ebi (shrimp) Okonamiyaki. yea. thats mayo on top. what up.

Weekend

On thursday I had my first hiking club meeting. Hardly a meeting. Just a gathering with a bbq and TONs of alcohol. So great. It started out with just the club members then somehow managed to become this HUGE party on school campus. weird. First time being really drunk at school in Japan and I don't think it will be my last. Hiking club should be really fun!

Hannah and I before meeting.

and during..

After we met up with our friend to go to this show at this really cool venue. The show was weird though.
Enough Said.

Saturday I woke up early to see my teacher Toba Sensei art show. She and talked about her work for an hour and it was so annoying cause I didn't understand anything. still cool though. Her Pieces were amazing.

After my friend Yasuyo took us to a vegetarian restaurant called Mikouan. It was down this tiny alleyway and anyone who wasn't paying attention (me) would walk right passed it. It was so good. we all ordered the same thing so the woman cooking gave us all different things and we all sampled each others food. One of the best meals EVER. The best part about this place that there were 3 kitties in the restaurant. Totally violating a bunch of health codes prob but I was all over. I walked up stairs to check it out and it just smelled like cat pee. reminded me of Marshmellow, Bean, and Oreo and home... haha.
On the way to Lunch we walked through Nishiki Market. WHAT A TRIP. weirdest food selection ever!

Mikouan:

Found an AMAZING fabric store! spent a lot of time in there and after Hannah and I went and Embroidered by the river. How art school of us. But it was so nice. I cant wait for summer weather!
